New Design in the works!

I am shockingly bad at keeping my blog up to date and for that I apologise. My longies pattern has been released now for a number of weeks and doing fabulously. You can find it on Ravelry here. Also in the works is a brand new pattern. This one is for adults and has been submitted to a magazine. As a designer it is very exciting as I feel like I am a 'real' designer now! Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I have complete belief that my design is good enough so now I am just playing the waiting game. If it is a no from the magazine I will be publishing in my Ravelry store. You will just have to wait a few weeks to get it. Sorry :)

As a separate note I have renewed some of the listings for Knit Pro Symfonie needles in my Etsy shop. So if you are looking to treat yourself to some new needles pop over and take a look. On a more personal theme I have been busy working on another nephews blanket (Yes another one, the 5th nephew in 5 years!) and this one is my favourite one yet. I used the Dream catcher blanket pattern by Susan B. Anderson. I still have the border to knit but it looks fantastic and I love it to bits. I am very tempted to keep it but seeing as winter is fast approaching the poor baby definitely needs it more than I do!

Longies knitting pattern release coming soon!

I have been busy busy busy behind the scenes here at Snoozley Woozley Baby. I have yet another nephew on the way, due in October, so obviously he will need blankets, cardigans, hats, booties etc! In addition to constant baby knitting I have been working hard on getting my first knitting design ready to release as a pattern to buy. I designed these longies when my second son was in cloth nappies, originally for him because I could find any patterns I liked but later I moved on to selling my hand knit longies. With such little time for knitting these days I have now decided to sell my pattern with the ability to sell your finished items for profit on a small scale. Perfect for WAHM's to generate themselves a bit of income without the outlay of buying a license. So the long awaited pattern is nearly but not quite ready for release. I am waiting for the final yardages from 2 of my testers so I can write them into the pattern and then it will be good to go. I have written the pattern to be easily attempted by a novice knitter. The pattern includes increasing, short rows and kitchener stitch but full explanations are given for each of these techniques with excellent feedback on clarity of instructions from my testers. Modelled here by my incredibly adorable baby. Excuse the picture spam but I am so proud of my pattern and my baby that I can't help myself! Finally Finished Baby Knitting (for now)

First of all a big Congratualtions to my sister and her hubby on their latest addition, Jaxon. He was born yesterday, 19th March. I have only seen a photo so far but he beautiful. Can't wait for my Aunty cuddles.When my sister told me she was in labour I had a mad dash to finish her blanket and baby vertebrae. I did finish and I presented my brother in law with a nice bundle including;

Please excuse the appalling photo. It was a late night, just get a picture job. Maybe my sister will get a nice action pic to replace it. The cardigan is actually a lovely mint green. It has a matching hat, made using the Greenleaf Baby Hat pattern - Minus the leaf. No pictures of the hat I'm afraid because my Husband was sleeping in the room where the hat was waiting for a baby.

Young Einstein:

Again modeled by my baby. He was nearer 5 months in the picture. This was challenging to photograph because he had just got good at rolling over and inching away! 

I am still planning to obtain the license to knit the Young Einstein along with Little Hoodlem, which is from the same designer. (ETA: The designer of this set of sweaters now very kindly does not require a separate license to be purchased and I can now take orders for these.)

Plans now are to finish crocheting my 2nd Goshalosh Bootie, although they will probably be too small for Aiden now, and then start working on prototypes for more bootie patterns. There is lots to come over the next few months. 

Quiet on the crafting front.

I wanted to be able to show you lots of pictures of prototype garments that I have been working on but I have been so busy that I haven't had much time to give attention to my work. What have I been working on? Well my sister is due a baby at the beginning of April and I am frantically trying to get her baby gifts worked up in time. Not easy when I have a baby of my own that demands my attention and a nearly 4 year old that wants attention whenever the baby naps! I digress... I have been working on the 10 stitch blanket by Frankie Brown, a designer that I love to support because she lives in the same town as me and yet I only know her via Ravelry! Frankie is an amazing designer and is a constant source of inspiration to me with her ingenious ideas. The lovely thing is that most of her patterns are free, all she asks is a donation to her chosen charity, Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, a charity which funds research and supports the families of children with a liver disease. Aiden certainly seems to be approving of his cousin's blanket.

 

I have been working on other things for my nephew to be, but they remain a secret until he puts in an appearance. ;)

I have managed, in between nephew knitting, one lone Goshalosh bootie. The second one hasn't managed to make it to the hook yet. I was hoping to have a pair to show you but I want to keep you all up to date with what I am up to and the 2nd one may be months away. The picture is not brilliant because it is not part of a pair yet and I just took a quick one on my phone. This one is made from hand dyed merino aran weight superwash wool. 

I promise to get nice photos to you as soon as I have completed the pair. The 100% wool version will be priced at around £20. I am more than happy to take custom orders but please bare in mind I am not returning to work until June/July 2013.

Merry Christmas and Happy new news!

Its nearly Christmas and I have been working hard preparing various new ventures for Snoozley Woozley Baby. I have been crocheting booties. These will be available to purchase as in stock and custom items. The pair below have errors, but I made these to get a feel for the pattern and so did not attempt to correct errors as I went. I will have a perfect pair to show you in the new year :). The RRP for these is approximately £15-20. A pair made from acrylic yarn will probably be around £15 and a wool or luxury fibre pair around £20 but price will be confirmed nearer the time of my reopening.

I have also been making balls! I've crocheted an Amish Puzzle Ball for Aiden to play with,

And made a knitted ball for my Mum's dog. I am going to play with the knitted ball design and plan to offer a small, medium and large version aimed for children to play with (under supervision as with any toy but particularly hand made ones). Please excuse the poor photo's on the ball, not only have I lost my camera but the light is so poor these days that using an Iphone with no flash to take pictures is less than ideal.

Finally I have been making adjustments to my longies knitting pattern which will be available to purchase via my Ravelry Store when we are back up and running. I will be offering these license free with the purchase of the pattern so any WAHM's reading this, watch this space as it means you will be able to make and sell as many as you like. The pattern will include tips on making 'made to measure' items meaning a custom fit is possible.

Little Hoodlem is Finished.

Aiden's hoodie is finished. It is made from Twilley's of Stamford, Mist which is a lovely blend of Alpaca, wool and Dralon (Acrylic). It is beautifully fuzzy which wouldn't be great for showing up cables and other textured patterns but works great with this pattern and is wonderful for cuddling when the baby is wearing it. All I need to do is test how this stands up to the dreaded washing test. I would hate to machine wash it (as the ball band states) and have it felt so I will be abusing the swatch thoroughly before I let my precious jumper near the machine!

The pattern is Little Hoodlem by Julia Stanfield. I originally purchased the pattern for personal use only but have decided I will buy the license, which will allow me to sell items I knit using the pattern. This will include Hotshot and Young Einstein. I expect to be selling these items from May/June 2013. Here is the finished Little Hoodlem on my 3 and 1/2 month baby. This is the 6-12months size so it is still a little on the big side, especially the hood but he'll grow into it in no time.

Making Aiden a Hoodie.

While I am not working on Snoozley Woozley Baby knits I am making Aiden a Little Hoodlem. It has yet to have sleeves knitting but I thought I would give it a little test run before I start knitting them. This is the 6-12 month size and pictured here Aiden is 3 and a half months old. It is a little big, especially in the hood but he should be fitting it nicely by the time I have finished.
